M. Elizabeth Varela

Anchorage, Alaska
Born and raised in West Texas to parents who believed in education. As a young girl, I became fascinated with the law and right after high school I began my pursuit. I attended U.T. El Paso where I received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, then attended Thurgood Marshall School of Law where I received my law degree.

For the first 15 years of my career, I ran my own office in Houston, Texas. I specialized in Family law and dabbled in criminal law. In 2004 after a series of vacations to Alaska, I moved to our beautiful state. In 2005 I joined the Alaska Public Defender Agency, where I handled 100's of misdemeanor and felony cases. Finally in 2016 I joined the Law office of Dan Allan, where my main case load is Family Law.

When I am not practicing law I enjoy quilting and fishing.
