Richard Postma has practiced law since 1994 and brings a diverse background of service and experience to his clients. He is licensed in Alaska and Colorado. He is the elected President of the Anchorage Bar Association for 2011.

Richard grew up in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado and South America. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school, served as an airborne infantryman, and was awarded a full ROTC scholarship. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned a bachelors' degree in Business Finance in 1991. He then attended the University of Denver College of Law where he was a member of law review. He received his J.D. in 1994.

Richard served as an officer and a military attorney for the U.S. Army JAG Corps from 1995 to 2000. He was a military prosecutor and a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1995 to 1998, and was the Chief of Claims for U.S. Army Alaska in 1999 to 2000. After fulfilling his ROTC service commitment, Richard entered private practice in 2000 until he returned to public service as an assistant attorney general with the State of Alaska Department of Law in 2003, where he emphasized employment, labor, administrative and appellate law. In 2007, Richard was appointed by the governor to be a state district court judge. He joined the Law Offices of Dan Allan & Associates in 2011.

Richard brings seventeen years of civil and criminal litigation experience and knowledge to the table to help solve problems, negotiate with others, and if necessary protect his client's interests through litigation and appeals. He enjoys working with clients from all walks of life and the day-to-day challenge of helping others navigate through the legal system to solve their legal problems. He is a proud husband and a father of three, and he spends his spare time coaching children's soccer, volunteering at church and his children's schools, and with his family, friends and neighbors.
